SYNOPSIS: Although 山东 Shandong is just a province of China, its territory is larger than the peninsula of Spain. In Shandong there are many cities, some very famous and important in the history of China, but in the subject that concerns us in this work, which is none other than Wushu or Kungfu in the Dragon Empire, we could easily divide the province into four zones; 济南 Jinan to the Northwest, 梁山 Liangshan to the Southwest, 烟台 Yantai to the Northeast and 青岛 Qingdao to the Southeast of the province. Qingdao in turn could be divided into the city itself with more than 8 billion inhabitants, the mountainous area called 崂山 Laoshan and a very special area called 即墨 Jimo.

Yang Hongxiu (杨鸿修 1864-1944), of Hui ethnic group, South Chengnei District, Guan County, Shandong, famous martial artist in early ROC, was good at Chang Quan, founder of Shandong Yang Chang Quan. He learned Chang Quan from childhood with Hong Chanyuan 洪占元, Zhang Jintang 张进堂 and Ma Laowei 马老维. He taught at Ma Liang 馬良武術系 Department of Martial Arts and helped him compile and promote the «New Chinese Martial Arts» (Zhonghua Xin Wushu 中華新武術). In 1919, he left to teach at the Shanghai Chinese Martial Arts Association 上海中國武術協會. He ended his days in Shen District, Shandong. He was nicknamed «Yang Hongxiu the Great Spear» (Da Qiang Yang Hongxiu 大枪杨红绣) and «Yang Lightning Fist» (快拳杨 Kuai Quan Yang).

The Yang branch is represented in Qingdao by various schools, from various disciples of Wang Fulin 王福林, a disciple of Wang Ziping 王子平. Among them Master Liu Wenyue 刘文 越, who has also expanded it to Spain at the hands of his son David Conches 刘 大卫.
